Why volunteer for RISE?

Volunteers support many of the services we provide for families and young people within the North Wiltshire area. Volunteers and work experience placements provide a valuable source of experience and knowledge that enrich the services provided by the Trust.

We provide all our volunteers a full training and induction programme together with on-going support throughout their time with RISE.

Volunteering enables you to learn new skills, meet new people, develop your confidence and try out new things.  It is a great pathway to employment, and it enables you to support your local community, sharing your experience and knowledge.

The rewards of volunteering are immense; from the pleasure of knowing that you have brightened up someone’s day by being there to the satisfaction of seeing someone develop their potential and grow in confidence.

All volunteer roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and are subject to satisfactory references, and enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check and training as appropriate for the role.

I have volunteered as an infant massage instructor with The RISE for 10 years. My background is in Nursery Nursing, and I qualified as an infant massage instructor with I.A.I.M in 2003.

I have really enjoyed my time with The RISE. It is a friendly place that supports its volunteers in every single way.

Hi, I’m Ruby and I’m doing my College work Placement at RISE Trust helping in the office. The RISE trust is an incredible charity with such a welcoming and warm environment and staff that make it feel easy to fit in and put so much effort into knowing and supporting you and each other. I’m excited for the future where I can get more involved with the events and programmes that RISE runs. RISE is a charity full of love and patience making it such an incredible place to work, I’m very happy and proud to be here.

MEG

I am one of the younger youth team. I volunteer at sessions, FUEL and do some events. During a session I help with activities, make toasties and help run the tuck shop. I do this at least once a week. FUEL is a holiday club and at FUEL I help with activities and sometimes with cooking lunches. At events I help hand stuff out like wristbands and balloons. I also explain what we do at The RISE Trust.

I enjoy being part of the team and helping the staff with the things we do. Volunteering has helped my mental health and wellbeing – it makes me happier and more positive about things.
